Our culture of “consumerism” constantly tempts us to buy more stuff! Faith offers a different message: God is generous and has provided us with enough. Giving is a deeply meaningful spiritual practice. We give, expecting nothing in return, trusting that God provides enough. On Sunday, November 10, members of First Lutheran will bring forward their estimates of giving for 2014. The Stewardship Committee is asking that members bring forward gifts for the community as well. Nonperishable food gifts and/or gift cards for the Maquoketa Community Cupboard may also be brought forward and placed in the collection baskets on the altar that Sunday.
